November 2024 Newsletter
Happy Thanksgiving!
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, it's essential to ensure the safety of your loved ones and your home. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind:
- Fire Safety: Cooking is the leading cause of home fires. Never leave the kitchen unattended while cooking, and keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
- Turkey Fryer Safety: If you're deep-frying a turkey, do it outdoors, away from buildings and flammable materials. Ensure the turkey is completely thawed and dry to avoid oil splatters.
- Smoke Alarms: Test your smoke alarms and replace the batteries if needed. Having working smoke alarms can save lives in case of a fire.
- Candle Caution: If you use candles for decorations, keep them away from flammable items and never leave them unattended.
- Childproofing: Keep children away from hot surfaces, such as stovetops and ovens. Assign a responsible adult to watch over them.
- Fire Escape Plan: Review your family's fire escape plan and make sure everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency.
